Coaching or Psychotherapy?
Insight Coaching is based on principles of psychodynamic theory, but it is not “psychotherapy”. Coaching clients are seeking self-improvement, ways to overcome stubborn obstacles, and knowledge to help them achieve ideals in their lives. “Psychotherapy” involves treatment for mental and emotional problems and major mental illness. Psychotherapy clients are seeking tools to reduce symptoms, cope with negative emotions, and overcome stressors or traumas.
Ask yourself the questions below to see which approach is best for you at this time:
coaching
Do you have success in your work but find it difficult to cope with stress, work with others, or reach for higher goals?
Do you suffer from “imposter syndrome”?
Have you wanted to expand your influence and personal power, but don’t know where to start?
Do you want to feel a greater sense of meaning and purpose in your work, relationships and life?
Coaching sessions focus on your present status and future goals to discover emotional reactions that no longer serve you, to recognize the origins of unconscious patterns, and let you become fully aware so you can make different choices.
Coaching for insight uncages your native potential and puts you back in charge.
Psychotherapy
Do you feel significant depression, anxiety or distress that causes you mental or emotional pain most of the time?
Do your symptoms make it hard to work, relate to others, or take care of yourself?
Have you been previously diagnosed with a mental health disorder?
Have you experienced suicidal thoughts, self-harm, or impulses to hurt others?
Psychotherapy sessions focus on your current distress and work with you to reduce symptoms, to understand the history of your troubles, and to promote healing of your discomfort. Psychotherapy uses insight techniques along with other, evidence-based tools to address your pain and free you for a happier life.
